Birth name, Hiroshi Fujimoto. Born on December 1st, 1933, in Takaoka-city of Toyama Prefecture, Fujimoto made his professional debut as a manga artist in 1951. Having moved to Tokyo with his friend, Motoo Abiko, in 1954, they formally started writing under the joint pen name "Fujiko Fujio". After the dissolution of their partnership in 1987, Fujimoto continued writing under the "Fujiko・F・Fujio" pseudonym, and built a new era of manga aimed at children. DORAEMON, his most renowned manga series, has been translated into 17 languages and appears in 20 different countries/regions, as it continues to be read by children all around the world.
