– PEACE FOR ALL

Oct 21, 2024 NEWS
UNIQLO and Magnum Photos Hold Exhibitions in 10 Cities Around the World
As part of the PEACE FOR ALL initiative, UNIQLO launched the ‘Global Photo Exhibition - PEACE FOR ALL’ project in collaboration with international photographic cooperative Magnum Photos in 10 cities around the world.

The exhibition shows the impact of ongoing customer support for UNIQLO’s PEACE FOR ALL charity T-shirt project through photographs of the humanitarian projects undertaken by charity partner organizations UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), Save the Children, and Plan International.

UNIQLO’s charity T-shirt project, PEACE FOR ALL, was launched in 2022. To date, 41 contributors have provided designs for the project, more than five million PEACE FOR ALL T-shirts have been sold, and donations from sales have exceeded 1.5 billion yen (approx. US$10 million). All profits from sales of PEACE FOR ALL T-shirts are donated to the project’s charity partner organizations.

The exhibition features a curated collection of striking, joyful, profound photographs from
Magnum photographers Cristina de Middel, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, and Olivia Arthur. They travelled to Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Romania to capture moments of PEACE FOR ALL-funded support
activities from their own perspectives. A special website for the exhibition is scheduled to open on Tuesday, October 15.

In addition to the global photo exhibition – which launched in 10 cities around the world starting with London on Friday, September 13 – three new PEACE FOR ALL T-shirts were created from the project, featuring the photographers’ works.

“Even T-shirt or photo can make a difference for peace.”
The global photo exhibition is part of the PEACE FOR ALL initiative, expressing a desire for a future in which all people can live safely and with world peace, and is made possible by combining UNIQLO's “power of clothing” with Magnum Photos’ “power of photography.”

The three Magnum Photos photographers personally visited the exhibitions held in cities around the world, expressing to visitors what they were trying to convey through their works, their wishes for peace, and what they hoped the PEACE FOR ALL project could achieve.

■ Comment from Oliva Arthur of Magnum Photos, Speaking at the Tokyo Launch Event
“Magnum Photos uses photographs to convey what is really happening around the world. For this project, I visited a counseling hub in Romania and took pictures of children who had fled Ukraine. I hope that the images of these children with their continually positive outlook will allow more people to feel the message that no matter the situation, they are always capable of using their imagination and creativity. I think it is very meaningful to have an outdoor exhibition that many people can view in person. I am extremely happy that we have held exhibitions in 10 cities around the world, including Tokyo, and that many people will be able to see these photos in various places.”
