The M was just the right length, but I went for the L for a wider fit, and had the length altered. Although they have an oversized silhouette, they’re not too trendy, and the sizing is just right for me in my 30s.

I know the wide fit is on trend this season, but I thought that was just for young and fashion-forward people. For a middle-aged man who usually wears slacks, this moderately wide fit is just right for casual wear. I went for the olive because it goes well with black tops. The navy didn’t look good with black. They have a drawstring waist with a roomy fit, so I could have gone one size down. Or you could go the other way and size up for a semi-wide look. I usually wear an XL in UNIQLO clothes, but for these trousers, the L is just right without a belt or drawstring. They’re sure to sell out, so make sure you get in quick.

Understated colour and a soft texture. The loose-fitting cut is comfortable to wear. Roomy around the waist with a drawstring for easy adjustment. Amazing.

I bought these cargo pants as UNIQLO sells surprisingly few styles. The description says they’re tapered, but I didn’t really find the cut to be tapered, just loose. The fabric is sturdy and they’re comfortable to wear, so I give them five stars. I went for the size M. The waist is roomy and I needed the length hemming by a few centimetres, which was done quickly at the store.
