Our linen comes from flax cultivated in Western Europe where it benefits from the adapted soil, cool climate, and abundant rain, along with European growers’ long-standing expertise. It has a unique texture and quality luster. For this linen shirt, we've really highlighted quality, premium material. The shirt allows your body to breathe, it is excellent at absorbing moisture, and it dries sweat fast, while staying crisp and comfortable in summer.

UNIQLO's linen shirts come in a variety of colors and patterns that are updated every year. This year, we've selected a color palette that’s season agnostic – from pastel colors that look great in the sun, to resort-style jewel tones, to dark colors that can be worn more casually.

A style that looks great on its own was the shirt we aimed for. The women’s version is crafted from the finest yarn count, resulting in a delicate, soft fabric that drapes beautifully and offers a relaxed silhouette. Its exquisite length provides coverage over the hips when untucked. Additionally, we thoughtfully designed the collar opening and tailored the button placement to achieve the perfect balance of décolleté elegance when worn unbuttoned.

One at a time, by hand.

Due to the natural variation in thickness of 100% linen fibers, it’s crucial to eliminate neps—clumps of fibers that form during the twisting and weaving process. To produce softer, visually appealing linen shirts, we implement rigorous quality control measures. Following UNIQLO's strict standards, our skilled workers conduct visual inspections and meticulously hand-pick neps from each shirt at four key stages of the manufacturing process, from fabric creation to final product.

Fine sewing for fine linen.

Fine linen fabric must be carefully sewn for durability. The effort we put into applying different sewing techniques to different parts, like the way we fold over and sew the ends of the fabric in the lower sleeves and how we stitch the placket with three folds, guarantees that you can wash and wear your shirt over and over again. You can fully savor the allure of linen that grows softer with use and becomes more familiar with your body.

A global standard of materials responsibility.

Responsibility for materials is also a global standard. Our premium linen shirts are made of 100% European Flax™ materials, which guarantees third-party verified traceability through the entire value chain for premium flax fiber grown in Western Europe. A vegetable fiber from an agriculture that respects the environment, without irrigation—barring exceptional circumstances—or GMOs. European Flax™ certified flax is transformed through a mechanical process that generates no waste: from the fibre to the shives and seeds, the entire plant is used and valorised.

Polished for beautiful color and luster.

The journey of creating UNIQLO’s premium linen shirts begins with spinning high-quality flax from Western Europe into yarn. After impurities are removed from the raw material, the fibers undergo a meticulous combing process, repeated five times, to yield a radiant, beautiful yarn. In the dyeing phase, we craft a unique color recipe for each shirt using a combination of 120 different dyes. The result is a fabric that is not only richly colored but also high-quality and lustrous. Finally, any neps (knots) typical of natural materials are painstakingly removed by hand. This meticulous attention to detail, from raw materials to weaving, ensures that our premium linen shirts exude a pleasing shine.
