Vincent van Gogh The Starry Night
Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose work is recognized for its emotive beauty and vibrant color. He painted with bold brush strokes and a sense of urgency, creating over 2,000 artworks in just a decade. This image of the night sky was inspired by the view from Van Gogh's window at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy, in southern France, where the artist spent 12 months in 1889-90 seeking reprieve from his mental illnesses. While the sky is based on observation, the picturesque village nestled below the hills was based on other views-it could not be seen from his window.

Sophie Taeuber-Arp Composition Throughout her career, Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) showcased a remarkable precision that would become her hallmark across diverse artistic pursuits. In 1929, she moved from Zurich to Paris, and turned her attention to abstract paintings and painted wood reliefs that employ a reduced geometric vocabulary; these works display a tension between precision and playfulness that is characteristic of her artistic production, using circles, segments of circles, rectangles, and squares.

Liubov Popova Composition
Liubov Popova (1889-1924) is widely known for her abstract paintings, characterized by triangular and rectangular forms, along with superimposed lines that create dynamic, multidimensional designs. Popova's approach to abstraction is reflected in her use of the term "architectonic," as she treats planes almost as solid material entities. This allows her to construct monumental compositions that emphasize the interrelationships between individual elements.

Paul Gauguin Still Life with Three Puppies
When Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) painted Still Life with Three Puppies he was living in Brittany among a group of experimental painters. He abandoned naturalistic depictions and colors, declaring that “art is an abstraction” to be derived “from nature while dreaming before it." The puppies' bodies, for example, are outlined in bold blue, and the patterning of their coats mirrors the botanical print of the tablecloth. It is thought that Gauguin drew stylistic inspiration for this painting from children's-book illustrations and from Japanese prints, which were introduced to him by his friend and fellow artist Vincent van Gogh that year.

#ArtForAll UNIQLO × MoMA's Creative Collaboration
Did you know that UNIQLO has partnerships with some of the world's most prominent art museums? Through collaborative products and events, the Museum Project aims to connect us to art. UNIQLO currently partners with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA); Tate Modern, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA); and the Louvre. MoMA, a sanctuary for modern and contemporary art, was the first museum with which UNIQLO ever partnered.
Sharing a commitment to connect people from all over the world to art, UNIQLO and MoMA began collaborating in 2013 under the concept of #ArtForAll. To date, over 3.25 million visitors have been able to visit MoMA for free through UNIQLO-sponsored free programs including Free Friday Nights, free admission for one month following MoMA's reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic, and UNIQLO NYC Nights. In January 2025, UNIQLO and MoMA relaunched weekly UNIQLO Friday Nights, providing extended hours for all and free admission for New Yorkers.
UNIQLO has also supported exciting digital content to bring MoMA's art and stories to people across the world. These include UNIQLO ArtSpeaks, which featured MoMA staff: special guests sharing their favorite artworks, Drawn to MoMA, an illustrated series where artists draw their unique vision of the Museum, and Art For All, a new video series where artists talk about art and life. These initiatives were launched to share unique perspectives on art and culture that spark new ideas and connect with everyday life.
The T-shirt designs feature some of the most widely recognizable artwork among our past collaborations. Using artwork that MoMA provides from its extensive collections, UNIQLO develops apparel and accessory lines. The impressive line-up features the works of iconic painters such as Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. What works of art will be reborn as T-shirts next? We hope that this partnership will continue to connect people to art in a deep way.
